New Mexico Beef Jerky

New Mexico beef jerky has become my new favorite. While I have always loved and still DO love Robertsons beef jerky
, a recent trip through Albuquerque, New Mexico has given me the chance to try something entirely new and different. New Mexico beef jerky is thin – so think that it crumbles in your mouth. Unlike other beef jerky that is full of gristle and chewiness, the Vigil’s beef jerky
from New Mexico has nothing but dried, cured beef that falls apart the moment it hits your tongue. This stuff is magic. While visiting 2 or 3 different travel stops, I had the opportunity to try a few of the different, New Mexico-style brands. They were all very good, but the Vigil’s was my favorite due to its consistency – just the right amount of salt throughout. There is one thing, however, that I think makes New Mexico beef jerky the very best: simplicity. The natural flavor has no extra seasonings – no MSG, nitrites or anything else that would make you question what you are eating. What you taste is 100% natural beef with a tad of salt flavoring. There are no artificial ingredients. This is what real beef jerky should be and used to be back in the days when John Wayne was eating it in the Westerns. And, in case you haven’t clicked on the picture to the left, you probably should know that you don’t have to go all the way to New Mexico to get it. You can order Vigil’s Beef Jerky online. Best Beef Jerky Recipe
There is a line from an old cowboy movie somewhere in which John Wayne, while riding across the desert on a horse, asks one of the other characters, “Do you want some jerky?” I always imagined that the beef jerky referred to in the movie is the real thing; real jerky. It only makes sense that in order to find that perfect beef jerky recipe or learn how to make beef jerky, we need to agree on what real jerky is like. Robertson’s calls their product, “Real” Beef Jerky.
