Epson ET8500 Review

As a school teacher who loves classroom technology and a grandfather who loves family photos, I often find myself needing a reliable and high-quality printer for both lesson planning and personal photos. The challenge is to find one that doesn’t drain my teacher’s salary bank account in replacing ink. I think I found such a thing. I recently acquired the Epson ET8500 Printer, and so far I think it has been a valuable addition to my workspace and passion for prints of family photos. There are several things that I appreciate about this printer, but there are also a few aspects that could use some improvement.

Firstly, one of the standout features of the Epson ET8500 is its exceptional print quality. The printer boasts a six-color ink system, including gray and photo blue inks, which elevates the output to a new level of accuracy and detail. Whether I’m printing black and white landscapes or colorful portraits, the results are consistently impressive. I think the color accuracy is remarkable, and I found that it faithfully reproduces the tones and hues of my original images.

Another aspect that I liked about the Epson ET8500 Printer is its versatility. It can handle various paper sizes, including standard letter size, legal, and even larger formats like A3. The ability to print borderless photos up to A4 size is a real bonus for photographers like me who often showcase their work in different dimensions. Additionally, the printer has a front paper cassette and a rear tray, making it convenient to load different paper types without constant manual adjustments.

Setting up the printer was straightforward, and I appreciated the user-friendly interface on the control panel. Navigating through the menus and selecting print options was intuitive, even for someone like me who is not particularly tech-savvy. The wireless connectivity worked flawlessly, allowing me to print directly from my smartphone or computer without any hassles.

The Epson ET8500 also supports direct printing from compatible cameras and memory cards, which can be a time-saving feature for photographers who need to print on the go. I found this especially handy during events and photo shoots when I wanted to provide instant prints to clients or showcase my work to potential customers.

One of the most significant advantages of the Epson ET8500 Printer is its EcoTank system. The printer comes with a generous amount of ink right out of the box, and the refillable ink tanks eliminate the need for frequent cartridge changes. This not only reduces printing costs in the long run but also contributes to a more eco-friendly printing experience. I appreciate not having to worry about running out of ink during critical printing sessions. I feel as though I can print as many photos and color copies as I want without worrying about having to get back on Amazon to order more ink cartridges. I won’t hesitate to print 20-25 color copies of a lesson for my students at school, nor will I worry about printing too many photos of our grandson.

While there are many positive aspects to the Epson ET8500, there are a couple of areas where I feel it could be improved. Firstly, the printing speed is decent but not exceptional. For high-volume printing, especially when I have tight deadlines, a faster print speed would be a welcome enhancement. However, the quality of the output compensates for the slightly slower printing pace.

Secondly, I noticed that the printer can be a bit noisy during operation. Although this may not be a major concern for everyone, it could be distracting in a quiet working environment, especially when printing multiple pages in succession. Neither of these are deal breakers by any stretch of the imagination.

Overall, I think the Epson ET8500 Printer is an impressive option for photographers, creative professionals, and teachers like me looking for outstanding print quality and versatility. Its six-color ink system, borderless printing capabilities, and EcoTank system are clear advantages. While the print speed and operational noise are areas that could be improved, the good far outweighs the bad. I am completely happy with this purchase and would highly recommend it to photographers, teachers and other
