Augusta Swivel Bar StoolThe August Swivel Bar Stool pictured right came in a box of two from Amazon for just $209.99. But wait. As I was ordering, I got confused thinking I was getting a discount for the 2-pack when in reality the single stool was on sale for nearly half the price. A very absent-minded error on my part. Don’t make the same mistake. This is the one you want: August Bar Stool Single Pack.  Anyway, I needed a couple of cheap bar stools and ended up getting far more for my money than I could have imagined. These August swivel bar stools are made by a furniture company called, Boraam. I think if you spend a few minutes just looking at their page on Amazon you’ll agree with me that none of their stuff looks cheap. But, just because it looks good doesn’t mean it’s quality, right? Before I give you my overall impression, let me give you some details about the quality and function of the Augusta swivel bar stool.

Augusta Swivel Bar Stool

Description and Impressions

The Boraam August swivel bar stool was shipped in a box of two that weighed 67 pounds for both. My first impression was one of disappointment when I realized how much assembly would be required. My disappointment quickly faded, however, as I unraveled each of the stool pieces and realized how well they were packaged. When I first removed the meticulous packaging of the circular, one-piece footrest, I was immediately impressed by the solid weight and smooth finish of the Cappucino wood grain. This is far better quality than I have experienced with any un-assembled furniture. Except for the generously padded seat and back, the Augusta stool is made from solid, beautiful dark hardwood. The finish is described as Cappuccino, but could easily be mistaken for mahogany. These cheap bar stools are beautiful. I couldn’t wait to get them assembled and try sitting in them. Even the construction hardware was made with quality and the pieces all fit together meticulously. The bar stool legs are ever so slightly flared, and the back slopes up beautifully to the top just about a 1/2″ above the very firm, thick, and cushy seat padding.  To be specific, the backrest height is 14.5 inches, seat diameter is 16″, and the stool sits about 29″ high. The model of the Bar stool is Boraam 48829. The link will take you right to the page where you can one single bar stool for just $56.56. Don’t make the same mistake I did and get the dual set for $209.99. These really are not cheap bar stools at all. What’s the difference?

Cheap Bar Stools vs. Augusta Swivel Bar Stool

Cheap bar stools are just temporary places to sit. They don’t have a backing; they don’t have padding; and they don’t swivel. Cheap bar stools are not made to be a decorative piece of furniture though they can look very appropriate in the right situation such as a basement bar. They do have their own, rustic style and fit-in perfectly in the right situation or when you need an extra seat or two for a party with more people than chairs. They are light-weight, portable, and take up little space. In contrast, the Boraam August stool weights about 32lbs fully assembled. I would call it a luxurious piece of furniture even though it really isn’t that expensive. It truly does look like a stool you would find in a lounge, restaurant, or fancy sports bar. The Augusta swivel bar stools are sitting in my den in front of the bay window and they look magnificent.
